I’ve had two of these couplers in use combining my pre-amplified UHF stacked arrays output (4 HD-9095P antennas) and a pre-amped HD-4053P high-gain VHF antenna output for some ten years. They are reliable and create no signal interference.

Of course, combining multiple antennas requires terminating cables in the proper lengths to avoid phase interference. So, my antenna leads are measured and properly terminated according to transmission wavelength. Other considerations must be pre-amp gain, antenna channel gain, dB losses due to filters and surge arrestors, etc.

This transformer type antenna coupler has only 3.5 dB loss and is un-filtered, but you’ll want balanced signals entering it by the use of attenuators if and where needed. This coupler is also AC&DC power passing on the antenna 1 port, so you might also need to provide blocking capacitors depending on how you may be powering pre-amps or distribution amps.

The coupler is housed in high impact plastic and suitable for outdoor mounting. However, I have mounted one of mine in my attic and provided outside rain loops to the antenna cables entering my home. The result is this CC-7870 still looks and performs as if brand new. The other one is outside on the antenna pole combining my two UHF stacked arrays. The cover of this one appears weathered, but it still performs like new.

Don’t be fooled, all so called antenna couplers are not the same, and simple splitter/combiners are inadequate for proper signal coupling. The CC-7870 antenna coupler is specifically designed to do its job very well – and it does so due to the proper circuitry provided inside its cover. Should it not perform, you can rest assured you have other problems on the coax distribution – problems that should be corrected. Winegard tests each of these.

The product reviews for the antenna rotors are dismal and rotors require patience to tune in available signals. I have used this item to combine the signal from two antennacraft 85inch 300 HBU antennas, pointing in two different directions, so, I don’t have to use an antenna rotor. If you do this, the antennas must be on separate masts and far enough apart to prevent interference. One more thing: the small metal signal splitters that you can buy at your local retailer will not work as a signal coupler. This product works beautifully.

Performs as described. As good as the original. Exterior components are made of higher quality & stronger construction. Good price. What’s not to like, and no I do not work for Winegard.
